Bailey and Crawford's Blog

So, why do we have a blog? For us, it's a great way to keep friends and family, especially those who are out of town, up to date with all that is going on with our adorable children, Bailey and Crawford! Both kids will get this blog printed out into books. Much better than a regular old baby book, right?!

Empty picture frame

i just had to share this.

i just got bailey out of her bed from her nap a few minutes ago. here's what she said:

bailey: "what's that thing over there with the pink and green dots all over it?"

me: "it's a picture frame, but there isn't anything in it. it's empty"

bailey: "we need to put a picture in there. do we have a picture?"

me: "no, what kind of picture do you want to put in there?"

bailey sits on the potty and contemplates this deep question for a few seconds before concluding: "a picture of me in my big girl panties."

which is just so appropriate, right????

Surprise, she has an opinion!

billy and i decided to tell bailey about the new baby in my tummy last night before she went to bed. most of what we told her was old news since there have been so many families around us having new babies and we have already been talking about it a lot around here.

and, surprise, surprise, bailey already knows which kind of baby she would like me to have. she quickly responded to our question with a definite "i want mommy to have a boy baby."

i could have guessed that she would respond that way considering for the past 2 weeks, for some reason, bailey has been talking a lot about "when i get big and am a mommy, i want to have a boy baby."

And I just can't hide it!!

yep, i'm pregnant!!!

baby #2 will arrive sometime around november 13th.

everything was confirmed this morning as billy and i saw our little baby bean with it's little baby bean heart beating. i know you are just dying to see the pictures as they are so sophisticated and clear and unique looking.

i've been feeling terrible the past couple of weeks (sorry, blogging has taken a back seat to napping), but it's nice to know that i am 100% for sure pregnant.

and sadly, even at a mere 7 weeks, you would probably be able to guess it if you saw me in person. come on, i know there are a few of you out there who wondered but didn't dare ask. there's just no hiding my premature belly bump, so i'm happy to be able to share the news (and stop worrying about which large t-shirt i'm going to wear today). i'm just one of those women who show early and get big. which will be ever so beautiful in the upcoming family weddings this summer. hopefully, my grandma will recognized my large pregnant self this time around.
so, that's our big news! we haven't told bailey yet and i don't really know when or how we will. she has to be a little curious as to why i've been so different lately.

Bubbley

the weather was perfect last week. sunny, but not too hot or windy.

bailey finally got to blow the bubbles that have been sitting in our laundry room for almost a year. i was impressed that she can do it without any help from me.

check out this cute video.

"The big cat and the rabbit were my favorite"

out of everything the aquarium had to offer, bailey was most impressed with a large black jaguar and an exhibit with 3 jackrabbits that ran around in circles.

seriously, she could have spent the entire 2 hours laughing at this rabbit. i'm thinking a trip to the zoo is in our future!

I was nervous because I knew that the sharks were well aware that the score was

sharks: 0

tara: 1

this is how bailey acted in the shark tunnel. we spent a lot of time in there.

Daddy time

bailey got some good daddy time last week while billy was in between jobs. we took advantage of having virtually 100% of billy's attention for 9 straight days. it was glorious!

we ended the week with a visit to the aquarium. bailey jabbered, pointed and laughed very loudly almost the entire time. she enjoyed it a lot more than last time.

it was so nice to have some good family time together! it seems like i get to do most of the cool things with bailey alone and it was fun to share the experience with billy.

thanks billy for spending your free time with us!!!! we LOVE you!!!

tons more aquarium pictures to come.

Abbie and Paul's birthday!

bailey had a blast at abbie and paul's birthday party a couple of saturdays ago! these 2 cuties are only about a year apart, and their awesome mom desi is expecting another baby this summer! can you believe that!?! she is wondermom.

desi sure knew how to throw a party! bailey LOVED the bouncehouse (this time) and was pretty particular about making sure the velcro entrance was closed at all times.

there were also bubbles, several outside toys, a sand table, sidewalk chalk and a delicious ice filled bucket of juice boxes. bailey spent most of her non bouncing time blowing bubbles. she had to be in the bending over stance in order to properly make bubbles.

a fantastic lunch with josh and other friends followed by some delicious elmo cupcakes (our birthday gift to abbie and paul).
you know, there are just those times when you look at your child and think, wow, she really is a lot like me. like when bailey was the lone toddler left at the table eating her cupcake. all the other kids had gone, leaving half eaten cupcakes on the table. but, no, not my daughter. she sat there until her cupcake was all gone. that's my girl!!!
thanks for inviting us to your party, we had an awesome time!

B & B

Oh brother!

oh reece!!! you cute thing! bailey absolutely adores you!

when she wakes up, it's "mommy, is reece awake too?". whenever we get into the car to go anywhere, she asks if reece is doing the same thing or if he will be there. "thank you god for reece" is a staple of bailey's nightly prayers, of course, following a "is reece going night night too mommy?".

seriously, bailey + reece = BFF

and you know what, i love it!!!

these two play a lot together, they always have. with the appearance of the ever popular and well documented characteristics of the "terrible twos", i noticed a slight shift in their relationship. at times, they are significantly sweeter with some extra unsolicited hugs, "i love you"s and random giggle-filled hand-holdings. other days, they pick at each other, just like brothers and sisters. you know how it goes, a toy isn't desired until the other one has it. bailey's trademark approach is to scour around accumulating treasures until she has so much she can barely walk and hoard at the same time.

you know what, i've been learning a lot about taking the bad with the good. we can all handle the little arguments here and there. seeing you two genuinely love and care for each other is a wonderful and amazing privilege! we love you reece! and your mommy and daddy too :)
